Pale Purple Coneflower is a lovely, delicate addition to any container, border, or meadow. Similar to Purple Coneflower, Pale Purple Coneflower has thinner petals and is lighter in color, sometimes appearing pale pink. It is typically a bit shorter than Purple Coneflower, thus it could be moved closer to the front of your border. Pale Purple Coneflower extends your coneflower season by blooming 2-3 weeks earlier than Purple Coneflower.
Purple Coneflower is native to rocky prairies, hillsides, glades, open woodlands, and roadsides from Eastern to Central North America. It grows in well-drained soil and full sun to part sun. Its taproot allows it to survive dry periods once established.
Pale Purple Coneflower attracts butterflies, bees, hummingbirds, skippers, and birds. The Ottoe-skipper larva and Silvery Checkerspot caterpillar feed on the foliage. Birds feast on the seed, especially finches. Seed not eaten by the birds will reseed to keep your population growing. Be careful not to weed the seedlings in the spring.
Quart size will bloom next season.
